    It’ Not What You Think…it’s how!

    Providing individuals opportunities, time and the thinking tools to be creative are essential. You additionally need a foundation, structure and focus, otherwise people won’t know what to be creative about. It’s like giving people opportunities to mess around with some tools until they come up with something that may or may not be useful or, have value. More support is required to support opportunities;
    a foundation, structure and focus.

    I’ve found using the organization’s or team’s mission, vision, values provides the foundation. For structure, people require an understanding of the direction they are to pursue which is an innovation strategy. Objectives provide the focus. With these in place, providing people with opportunities to be creative then more often lead to the generation of creative ideas which produce innovation.
