One of my favorite books on facilitating meetings is “Death By Meeting,” by Patrick Lencioni. It’s framed in the form of a fable that is not only easy reading, but also helps you relate to the message. The message lays out the two main reasons meetings are usually so poor and what to do about them. I summarize the key points in this weeks article, Bringing Meetings Back from the Dead.
Great article! Thank you! Re the different meeting structures, I can see that working within an organization, but I work with a lot of community partners on initiatives. These partners do not have time to meet weekly, even briefly. Many of the larger groups/coalitions meet quarterly often with the smaller working groups meeting monthly. So when we do meet, our agenda is pretty packed. Any suggestions?
