Group Management

Much of what’s visible in the world of the group facilitator are the tools and methods he or she uses to help a group work effectively together.

Group Management archetypes are the skills that help facilitators choose and manage effective group processes, and engage the group in healthy participation as they progress towards their stated goals.

Cultivating Collaborative Structures

The shepherding of a highly functioning group resembles the natural cycles involved in the parenting or nurturing of any living thing. We believe that a structure that progressively unfolds the following elements will cultivate collaboration.

  • Design structures of involvement that increase in complexity and responsibility over time.
  • Purposely introduce and nurture the formation of factional subgroups. This is a natural stage of group evolution that allows smaller groups to create community with one another.
  • Offer challenges that require the resources of the entire group encouraging them to reach outside of established factions.
